Naval Ships' Technical Manual
Naval Ships' Technical Manual (NSTM)

The purpose of the Naval Ships' Technical Manual (NSTM) is to provide technical information to personnel engaged in the supervision, operation, or maintenance of ships of the United States Navy. The various chapters and volumes of the NSTM contain detailed administrative and technical instructions that amplify U.S. Navy Regulations and other authoritative documents. These instructions are designed to assist afloat personnel in the satisfactory management of ships and shipboard machinery and equipment in order to achieve optimum performance throughout each ship's life cycle and to ensure readiness for any assigned mission. The NSTM is not intended to be a compendium of design and engineering information, nor an all-encompassing document covering all ramifications of shipboard equipment.

NSTMs cover a variety of shipboard topics including; "Preservation of Ships in Service (Chapter 631), Cathodic Protection (Chapter 633), and Deck Coverings (Chapter 634).

View this site for a listing of all NSTMs. Not all Manuals are available for download.
